APQO International Awards 2011

This prestigious award was presented to the Chief Executive Officer of the Maliban, Mr. D L Weerasuriya by the Chairman of the APQO, Dr.Charles A. �Aubrey II at the Asia Pacific Quality Conference held on 17th October 2011 at the Marine Bay Sands – Singapore in a gathering of Leaders of Premier Business Excellence Initiatives around the globe. This occasion was graced by the Hon. Minister to State, Finance & Transport Mrs. Josephine Teo.

The Global Performance Excellence Award (GPEA) formally known as the Asia Pacific Quality Award is the only formal international recognition of Performance/Business Excellence.
GPEA is a strategic enabling tool for global performance Excellence. It helps to strengthen the strategies and performances of organizations to succeed in fast evolving competitive environment.
The countries who won the National Quality Award assess under the Malcom Baldridge Performance Excellence criteria are eligible to apply to this award if they fulfil the minimum requirements.
Maliban was awarded the National Quality Award from Sri Lanka Standard Institutes in 2010 under the large scale manufacturing category. Maliban is the only biscuit manufacturing company to won the National Quality Award in two occasions.
The GPEA awarding process, which includes an assessment by an international panel of experienced & qualified examiners, uses Malcom Baldridge Performance Excellence (MBPE) criteria that recognize globally.
The organizations and individuals being honored are all exemplary models of excellence, passion and commitment to the fields of productivity and business Excellence.
The awards are administrated by the Asia Pacific Quality Organization (APQO) as a nonprofit organization that serves as an umbrella group that brings together all of the leading quality professional societies around the globe.

Out of around 50 member countries Maliban has shown the� best performance excellence to win ‘Best in Class Award ‘ under the large scale manufacturing category in 2011.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our valued customers across the globe for helping us to achieve this award” .
Assistant General Manager (Quality Assurance, Research & Development)Mrs. Warna Fernando also addressed the gathering under the topic of ‘Maliban path way to excellence’.
On behalf of Chairman Mr. A.G. Rathnapala� Samaraweera and the company, Senior Director Mr. A.G. Wimalasiri� and Quality Assurance Manager, Mr. Vinoy Jayashantha also participated to this event.
